Jamaica is an island in the Caribbean that is full of diversity; the people are of all races and produce a mix of culture like no other. This also has an effect on the unique music that is produced in this sweet island of Jamaica. The music is part of the people and of course is just has unique as the people themselves. There is no other type of music like Jamaican music, these melodious and groovy beats are one of a kind and cannot in any way be compared to any other genre of music today. It is an amazing thing that such a great music can come from such a small place on the earth.

Sometime people wish to hear a different style of music other than the typical mainstream pop that is played. Once you have searched and found the Jamaican style of music I am sure that you would prefer none other that it. Jamaican music consists of ska, rocksteady and also dancehall. Throughout the history of Jamaican music there have been many artists who have push the genre into higher heights and making it what it is today. We all know of the legendary Bob Marley. He is no doubt the most famous reggae artist to ever come forth of Jamaica and will be the only. He has set the international level for reggae music like none other can imagine doing.

The style of reggae, ska and dancehall are so unique that it is amazing. The do not follow the typical way of making music. Most of the instruments used are used in a totally different way and also pattern. The music produced can be groovy or even serious. This unique genre can have many different forms and different melodies. Back in the earliest days of reggae music the artists used to put out songs which spoke of the hardship of ghetto life and the unity of brothers. We all are also very familiar to the marijuana songs as well which is very popular in Jamaica. The form of reggae is also one of the few types of music which can be played year round and is not seasonal. From Christmas to new years it does not matter reggae music is fit for all occasions.

Some of the leading reggae artists today are Sizzla, Capleton, Tarrus Riley and Richie Spice. These artists have taken over from the starters of this art form such as Dennis Brown, Peter Tosh and Gregory Isaacs to name a few. The music industry in Jamaica has been able to help everyone by providing many jobs and outlets to escape violence and poverty and at the same time they manage to stick to their roots and not give in.
