Movies today are more widespread than previously in the past and is seen as an important art form, a way in which entertainment and education is projected to the people in the world. So it is no surprise that movies are being produced across the globe telling the stories and promoting different cultures to all. In this technological age we live in it has gotten easier for anyone to make a movie to broadcast whatever they like to others and Jamaican citizens has certainly not taken this for granted. Movies are also being used today for promoting a country or a lifestyle of others.

The Caribbean is full of culture from every nation imaginable; it’s a pot of different races and cultures combined into one people making them unique compared to other nations. The diversity of the Caribbean people is one of amazement to the rest of the world and movies can project that culture and mixture of people, showing their lifestyles, social problems, music and much much more. A Jamaican movie has a different and unique style to it, compared to other nations around the world. It is an experience which is mind blowing to someone who is not acquainted with the Jamaican culture and of course their native tongue which is admired by the rest of the world.

The varieties of Jamaican movies vary very much, most known for their gangster and comedy movies. The Jamaican people showcase and highlight in their movies the social and political problems, showing the life as a “Ghetto Youth’’ growing up in poverty and surrounded by crime, trying to make something of themselves and is all dipped in the musical culture which is no doubt a major and most influential aspect of Jamaican culture and also all other Caribbean islands.

For someone who has never seen a Jamaican movie as yet, you’re in for an experience never felt before. It is surely a unique and amazing style of projecting the culture and people, it brings a feeling that other movies just don’t capture and its popularity is continuously growing world wide.
